Rating: G Words: 409 Characters/Pairings: Will and Elizabeth (not shippy, though, cause hey, they're kids) Summary: A fourteen year old Will, and a thirteen year old Elizabeth. I was toying with the knowledge of Elizabeth's childhood fascination, and the fact that she knew stories of Jack before meeting him. So yeah, for my little Sparrabeth heart this is more hinting at future shipping, and so it's still not Will and Elizabeth. ;]

Title: Language Rating: R-ish? (Not really graphic sex) Pairing: Jack/Elizabeth Words: 780 Notes: I deliberately didn't place this in any certain time, because I didn't mention Will at all, and I didn't want to have to deal with him. So if you want to believe he's dead, go for it, and if you want to believe she's cheating on him, go for that, too. I didn't set it up for a reason. This is a one-shot.

ALRIGHT first off this has nothing to do with my terrible hatred or dislike of anyone. I was bored, and I wanted to have a way to get rid of the LJ's that no one updates anymore, and cleaning house completely seemed like the way to do it, and find out who is still alive.
SO I CUT EVERYONE.
So if you want back on comment here and on you'll be. I know there are a lot of obvious names, but I didn't wanna make this like a single out certain people and tell them they suck, thing, so everyone had to go. I guess that's fair. I know there are a lot of people who will be like "DUH I WANT TO BE ON YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT." And to those people I say, I know dears, I live to annoy you, though.
Cause, hey, you can come back. Just my way of seeing if anyone's awake. :]
I did the same thing with communities. So I can re-add the ones that are actually active, and such. You KNOW. I wanted to revamp my whole info page, so to speak, but I guess that won't work if all the dead blogs don't take me off their list.
ANYWAY. You know what to do, and then I'll delete this post, and speak of it no more.
Nothing personal to anyone who doesn't comment, sometimes people grow apart or add each other in the spur of the moment, and really don't have all that much in common, it happens. It was either do something as crazy as this or make a new username all together. Cause sometimes I like fresh starts. But I like this username ------ I'll stop rambling.

You know what annoys the hell out of me? (And I'll even make it public)
People who think doing their part means nothing more than attacking the President's intelligence. Do these people show any signs that their much smarter, or involve themselves in activism? Usually the answer I have found is "no". They fulfill their good deed duty by sitting on LJ communities and making posts about how stupid the man is. I wonder what the average age of these people are? Because when that's all they have to bring to the table, my eyes see 13 year olds giggling at the wonderful joke they've made.
It's no secret that he's not the best speaker in the world (and that's a gross understatement), but that doesn't have to reflect what his IQ, not everyone is a good speaker. It's no secret that he has had a less than stellar history in matters of business. But what does that say about his intelligence?
It says that here's a man who had a drug/alcohol problem that got in the way of his work. It also says that he's a spoiled rich kid who can get out of trouble when he has to, and move onto the next career that he did nothing to earn. It doesn't say he's stupid.
Am I defending him? Hell no. Guys, you know me better than that.
My point is that no one stops to think that perhaps he wants to be underestimated by pretentious democrats, and intellectual elitists. And I have to say, thus far it's worked wonderfully. The "opposition" didn't have a chance in hell, and that's even after the botched debates and oh-so-funny internet cartoons. He has proven time and time again than he's a political genius, and even if that is all the people behind the man, he has the good sense to surround himself with people that are. He's proven that he can get the things that he wants done, by whatever means he has to, and the consequences be damned. He has proven that he has the leadership skill to lead the uneducated masses to whatever destination he desires.
If you're laughing at him, you're not fearing him, and that's mistake number one. He knows exactly what he is doing, and he does things with ruthless efficiency that should scare the shit out of each and every one of you.
Iraq, you say? He didn't have an exit plan? No, but who's the say that wasn't his plan all along? Of course they don't have their "democracy", or their constitution, of course we're still over there, and people are still dying, and was his plan really to fight terrorism or bring freedom, then he fucked up royally, but at this point do we still believe, for a second, that either of those things really mattered to him?
Katrina? He messed up the relief effort? What makes you think that wasn't, at most, deliberate, or at least, apathetic? Has nothing to do with his intelligence, a twelve year old would know people need to be helped.
9/11? Someone should have known about it ahead of time? Do any of you know about a little thing called PROJECT FOR THE NEW AMERICAN CENTURY? ("Project for the New American Century is a non-profit, educational organization whose goal is to promote American global leadership.") Tacked onto their statement of principles and objectives are some names you may recognize, among them, Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and Paul Wolfowitz. "This report saw the fall of Communism as a call for America to become the military rulers of the world, to establish a new worldwide empire. They spelled out the military enhancements we would need, then noted, sadly, that these wonderful plans would take a long time, unless there could be a catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor that would let the leaders turn America into a military and militarist country."
Mind you, this report was made BEFORE 9/11. And it looks like they got their "catastrophic and catalyzing event", and it couldn't have been better for their political agenda. Honestly, where would Bush be if he couldn't bring up 9/11 to scare people into compliance? He wouldn't have half the power he does if it had never happened.
Mistake number two, people, you're slipping.
He's in the Skull and Bones. Has been since college. In 2004, he admitted to still being a part of it, on Meet the Press. But we've been over all of this, and you'll have to research them for yourself. These people groom Presidents and CEO's, he's been preparing for this his whole life.
The fact of the matter is that most of America isn't all that bright. The red states want an average man, someone they see as being like them, someone who slips up when he speaks, and doesn't seem to know the answers to everything. They want someone they can see having a meal with, or something as quaint as that. And he has played that part, and he's played it beautifully. And it's worked, and the more we knock his intelligence the more they rally behind him, because that's what they love about him, and he knows it.
Why else would their be an obvious connection between red states and the states with the lowest quality of education?
But this man? For the love of God, guys, stop acting like he's a funny clown to be made fun of. You're doing exactly what he and his want you to do.

1984 here we come.
Okay so here are two articles that I think people should be informed about. If for no other reason than to make you scared. Cause at this point fear is a healthy rational response to the coming police state.
Hell, I sound like a Republican in reverse. I'm not telling you to fear terrorists, so much as, you know, our own government. FEAR FEAR FEAR. OH EM GEE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
.......
Like I was saying. Here is an article talking about the possibility of an avian flu epidemic in America. They say that it could mutate and be passed through humans, and our fearless wizard leader already has a plan for what to do.
Call in the Marines.
It's a good plan, yes? I heard that the military knows all about how to CURE THE AVIAN FLU. But seriously, his plan is not making more vaccines, or anything rational of that sort, it is, quite simply, to impose martial law in the event of such a tragedy. The part that scared me the most has more far reaching consequences than a possible flu outbreak.
"Bush began discussing the possibility of changing the law banning the military from participating in police-type activity last month, in the aftermath of the government's sluggish response to civil unrest following Hurricane Katrina."
Thought I was kidding about that whole 1984 thing, didn'tcha?
AND continuing with that theme, crazykidben this one is actually in your state, so it'll be of particular interest to you:
Republican lawmakers are drafting new legislation that will make marriage a requirement for motherhood in the state of Indiana, including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who do become pregnant "by means other than sexual intercourse."
According to a draft of the recommended change in state law, every woman in Indiana seeking to become a mother throu gh assisted reproduction therapy such as in vitro fertilization, sperm donation, and egg donation, must first file for a "petition for parentage" in their local county probate court.
Only women who are married will be considered for the "gestational certificate" that must be presented to any doctor who facilitates the pregnancy. Further, the "gestational certificate" will only be given to married couples that successfully complete the same screening process currently required by law of adoptive parents.
The full story is in that link, but that's the crux of it. The most alarming parts. They're gonna tell people whether or not they can have kids. Of course this will really effect homosexual couples, but also single mothers, and non-nuclear families. It's funny, I don't really remember moving to China, but I guess I'll go with it.
In that same bill they're also trying to make surogacys (having a child for someone who can't) illegal. Another blow to homosexual couples who have female friends get pregnant for them, and also women who can't have children. My Aunt actually did a surogacy for her best friend, and that kid is my little cousin, so it won't only effect the gay community, but I can guess that that's the main objective of the Republicans.

This post is public for two reasons (two people that don't have LJ). The picture has a duel purpose. To one person, it's a warning: "You try anything again, he'll kill you. More importantly, I'll let him."

Basically this is something that has been in my head for awhile (namely since I finished Half Blood Prince, but it's not only to do with that, as much as the whole series) but I haven't had time to write it out. Since reading Underwater Light I have a lot of new thoughts that I hadn't thought before, and they need to be addressed, as well as some other things.
Firstly, I want to say that I love this series, I love these characters, and their world. I could get lost in it. Unlike so many other fandoms, I can loathe the canon terribly, and still adore the world and the people in it. I can't really explain that, but it's how it is. None of my other fandoms are so character driven, their plot driven. Both are good, obviously, but the characters in HP could rock in any plot they wanted to be in.
But here are some things I noticed ------
( SOME spoilers for HBP )

Back with more of the still unnamed Sparrabeth series. Not a lot of dialogue, but I think that what is there is meaningful. One of the things I love about the pairing is the huge potential for awkward silences.

It's too long to call a drabble and too short to be a full story. But, to be fair, it's not finished. There'll be more, but I'm far too tired to write anymore tonight. Feedback is adored, as well as title suggestions, because I have absolutely no ideas.

AOL Welcome Screen says Lebanon's government falls after 'People Power' protests. So here's the thing, and this isn't a rhetorical question, I really want to know what you guys (those of you who have some level of political intellect) think -- Why them and not us?
You see it on the news all the time. The world is in political turmoil, and while the media portrays that as being a very negative and violent thing, I'm not so sure. Of course any revolutionary action has the potential to be violent, (but who doesn't know that?) but as for negative -- I don't see how something that brings corrupt systems down, and unites people under one common goal can be of the bad.
Months ago we saw the news reels from the uprising in the Ukraine after their fraudulent elections, and now we see people fighting the government in Lebanon. We have a good 49% of America as the opposition to the current state of things, and what do we do? We carry signs and mull over what most regard to be conspiracy theories, and naively hope that the men in fine hats will look down from their ivory towers and tremble at our efforts. I have news for you --
They are laughing at us. They have seen what we can do and they are not afraid.
No, no, NO. Not what we can do. What we are willing to do. There is a huge difference, and we are nowhere near our full potential. And that is what makes me furious. But at the same time I realize that I'm in that same boat simply because, I don't know how to reach that potential. If the people won't organize, and the people won't commit to a cause, and the people won't open their eyes and see (which is of course, the base on the problem).
No, what I fear now is that we are too far gone. Our journey began over 200 years ago, and we're running headlong for the finish line at a place called 1984, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. Are American revolutionaries so scarce and useless that nothing will be done? Where are the fathers of the French Revolution? Where are the Spanish anarchists? Where are the pirates? Hell, I'd settle for a Democrat who's willing to do more than whine.
And perhaps that is the root of the answer to my question. The reason for them and not us (never us) -- you see such things in countries that are vastly poorer than our own. In countries where the government at least has the decency to be openly corrupt, and the people cannot deny their wrongdoing. In those countries there is a desperation that cannot be matched by a fat and happy jaded middle class. A desperation that is anything but quiet, and fleeting. But us? We're content as long as we keep shoveling fast food into our collective overweight mouths, we won't complain as long as there's a good game on TV, and so long as buildings aren't collapsing and burning down the block.
EDIT ( That is not to say that the solution to our problems is to turn off the TV. I believe that part of the reason people are so numb to the brainwashing tactics that are used is because they have other things to think about. Things to keep their mind off what they are being taught subliminally. Pop culture is one of those things, and that is the reason why each time an artist uses a movie (for example) as a medium for something of actual substance, to send some sort of adverse message, the neo cons are all over it. Survival (work), entertainment (pop culture, sports, hobbies), and our own small groups of family and friends. That seems to be the entire world to some people. Why else would the media cover Kobe and Michael instead of the security breech in the White House Press Corp? It's all trickery, keep you busy watching one hand and ignoring the other. )
We have been spoon fed the illusion of freedom and the ghost of democracy our entire lives, and to that we have become both accustomed and numb. And from that there is no turning back.
Or is there?
I once wrote that there will be no change until radicals begin to act radical, and not only think radical. We must do more than pay lip service to an issue. We must go beyond everything we thought we were capable of. And I say this as much to myself as anyone else. Because if we don't, then my pessimism is justified. If we don't -- well, you figure it out.

IF YOU HAVE NOT STARTED WATCHING LOST HERE'S SOMETHING TO CATCH YOU UP SO THAT YOU CAN!
Kthnx. Lecksuh this is mainly for you. ♥ I was bored. Really bored.
Okay, so basically Oceanic flight 815 left Sydney, Australia headed for Los Angeles. First there was turbulence, then there was screaming, and finally, because if they had of made it to California there would be no show, plane go CRASH. On an island. Somewhere in Hawaii the South Pacific. Of course in most scenarios there is a rescue team that goes looking for survivors, but dun DUN DUN, at point of CRASH the plane was 1,000 miles off course, and so no one's coming. I don't know about you, but I would write some sort of angry letter to the airline. Honestly, 1,000 miles off course? Must be another case of drunken pilots. There were 40-something survivors, but luckily, we only care about 14 of them. I shall now attempt to explain them all without showing much character biased. I said it was an attempt.
Updated through Do No Harm
